Good Friday

Let the Children Come

Both Ash Wednesday and Good Friday can lack participation from families with children. Adults feel compelled to shield children from the hard parts of the story, as if the hard parts don’t seep into their knowing. On these days when we tell the hard part of the story, it helps us to hold the whole big story of life, death, and resurrection together. Just like characters in a play are changed through experiences, the story of life, death, and resurrection changes who we are, helping us to remember in our experiences that the hard parts lead to life.
