LESSONS LEARNED FROM 35 YEARS OF TEACHING, COACHING AND RAISING TEENAGERS
Gary Sloan has worked in the Grand Meadow school district for nearly 35 years as a teacher of special education students. He has coached football that entire time, serving as the head coach for the past 26 seasons. Sloan’s coaching record is 206 wins and 79 losses. His teams have won 4 state championships, 7 section championships and 10 conference/district championships. He has been the school’s Athletic Director and Transportation Director for the past 11 years.
Gary was raised on a dairy farm near Ellendale and later moved to Ellendale and graduated from Ellendale-Geneva High School in 1980. He graduated from Winona State University in 1985 with degrees in Special Education, Physical Education and Coaching. He has 3 college aged children that currently attend University of Minnesota, St. Cloud State University and Minnesota State University-Mankato.
Gary lives in Grand Meadow and is a member of Grand Meadow Lutheran Church.
